Jim Kalmbach

started his career in the electrical field in the 1960s and has served as HBI Electrical instructor at Tongue Point Job Corps Center since 2008. Jim began his career wiring houses. He later joined an apprenticeship program and worked as a contractor and as an electrical inspector. Jim’s favorite part of his job is helping students work toward successful futures

Robbin O’Grady - Clinical Medical Assistant - Tongue Point Job Corps Center

Robbin O’Grady

joined the Tongue Point Job Corps Center team as a medical assistant in 2017 with over 20 years of industry experience. Robbin has certifications as a clinical medical assistant and in electronic health records. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Robbin loves watching her students experience “firsts” and equipping them to succeed in the medical field.

Ken Johnson - Cement Masonry - Tongue Point Job Corps Center

Ken Johnson

Ken Johnson, Cement Masonry instructor, joined Tongue Point Job Corps Center in 2017. He previously worked in commercial construction as a union cement mason for nearly 30 years. Ken has worked on a variety of projects throughout his career, like high-rise buildings, bridges, schools, hospitals, dams and more. His favorite part of being a Job Corps instructor is learning with the students and helping them grow their self-confidence. 

Betsy Crist - Carpentry - Tongue Point Job Corps Center

Betsy Crist

has worked in the carpentry industry since 1987 and brings all this experience as a Carpentry instructor at Tongue Point Job Corps Center. Betsy continues to work on her carpentry skills through the Pacific Northwest Carpenters Institute and the International Training Center, and she loves to share this knowledge with her students to make a difference in their lives.

Markus Dezelak - Carpentry - Tongue Point Job Corps Center

Markus Dezelak

is a Carpentry instructor at Tongue Point Job Corps Center. He previously worked for Mehrer Drywall as a foreman for seven years. Markus’ favorite part of his job is teaching students new skills and seeing their excitement when they succeed. Markus instructs his students on how to gain employability skills to succeed in an apprenticeship and future career.

Gaston Valz - Computer Technician Network+ - South Bronx Job Corps Center

Gaston Valz

, the Network+ instructor at South Bronx Job Corps Center, is a skilled and dedicated professional with over 15 years of experience in information technology support and technology training. Gaston is a certified technician and holds certifications in CompTIA A+; Network+; Microsoft MCSA, MCSE and MOS; Cisco CCNA Routing and Switching; CCNA Security; and Cisco CCNP. He is skilled at installing, configuring, troubleshooting and supporting server and client operating systems and applications, and enjoys passing these skillsets along to his students. 

Dennis O’Neal - Academics and Life Skills - South Bronx Job Corps Center

Dennis O’Neal

has been the Driver’s Education instructor at South Bronx Job Corps Center for over 25 years. Throughout his time at Job Corps, Dennis has maintained a 98% classroom success rate for learner’s permits and driver’s licenses. He has also assisted with an on-campus Job Corps mentorship program for the past 12 years.
